Assassin's Creed - A Soldier On My Own

Description

Deep in the ocean, dead and cast away,
here innocence is burned in flames.
A million miles from home,
I'm walking ahead.
I'm frozen to the bones. I am
a soldier on my own,
I don't know the way.
I'm riding up the heights of shame.
I'm waiting for the call,
the hand on the chest.
I'm ready for the fight
and fate. ---"Iron" by Woodkid (Assassin's Creed: Revelations trailer song)

It's done. It's finally done. :happycry:

Well, this was a project and a half. lol It's hard to believe I started working on this drawing September of last year (nearly a year ago!). I didn't work on it consistently, though, just on and off throughout the months. Mostly off... *cough* Curse you, work, for stealing my free time!! :shakefist:

lol Now, I've never played any of the Assassin's Creed games (though they look like awesome games =]), but I got really inspired to draw this after I saw the E3 trailer for AC: Revelations. I was blown away when I first watched it, to be honest. It didn't seem like a trailer for a game; it was more like one for a movie--very cinematic, full of gorgeous scenery, and, not to mention, an awesome trailer song to tie it all together. I'll put the link to the trailer here for those curious. ;) I also wanted to draw a detailed landscape shot at some point, too, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. =P Oh, and I originally wanted to get this done by the release date for AC: Revelations--back in mid-November. Yeeeaaahhh, that obviously didn't happen. XD

Drawing out and shading this whole thing wasn't too difficult; just really, really, really, reeeaaaally time-consuming. And it doesn't help that I'm kinda a perfectionist. I don't even wanna think about how much time I spent on this. X.X But I'm really happy with the result, so all's well. :) I just hope this doesn't look too dark on anyone else's monitor... I've got a pretty bright one.

Thanks for looking!

Be sure to full view for the details!

Traditional media, check. Nice lighting technique, check, glorious assassin seconds before performing 'leap of faith' check!
